Requires coroner candidates to undergo fingerprinting and a criminal background check through SLED (State Law Enforcement Division) at the time of filing for office

Eliminates the option for candidates to be enrolled in a forensic science degree or certification program with completion within one year of election; candidates must now have already completed such programs

Requires candidates to submit fingerprints to law enforcement and file background check results with either their political party's county executive committee or the county election commission (for petition candidates)

Maintains existing qualifications including U.S. citizenship, one-year county residency, registered voter status, minimum age of 21, high school diploma, and no felony or moral turpitude convictions

Takes effect upon Governor's approval
