South Carolina General Assembly welcomes the Honorable Dan K. Wiley, National Commander of The American Legion, to address a joint session at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in the House of Representatives Chamber

Wiley is an Air Force veteran and retired Kansas state district court judge who raises cattle in Leavenworth, Kansas, and holds degrees in business from the College of Great Falls and law from the University of Kansas

He is a paid-up-for-life member of Byron H. Mehl American Legion Post 23 in Leavenworth, past department commander of Kansas, and served on The American Legion's National Executive Committee

As district court judge appointed in 2008, Wiley helped establish and presided over the Leavenworth County Veterans Treatment Court

As National Commander, Wiley advocates for The American Legion's "Be the One" mission to prevent veteran suicide
