South Carolina Senate resolution honors the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA) on its 40th anniversary and designates March 24, 2026, as "CERRA Recognition and Celebration Day"

CERRA was established in 1985 as the South Carolina Center for Teacher Recruitment to address teacher shortages, with its Teacher Cadets program expanding from 4 high schools to 163 high schools across 70 of the state's 75 school districts

The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program, founded in 1999, provides fellowships to over 800 college students at 14 institutions, with approximately 3,000 graduates having served as public school teachers in the state

CERRA provides mentor training, facilitates National Board Certification for teachers, hosts the South Carolina Teacher Forum, and publishes the annual Supply and Demand Report that informs statewide education policy
