South Carolina Alpha Delta Kappa, founded in 1954 in Columbia, is an organization of active and retired educators from preschool through college levels with chapters throughout the state

Current biennium goals focus on helping children and families prepare for school and supporting classroom teachers, including adopting families and schools and offering scholarships and grants to future and current educators

Members support national philanthropies including Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and the Alzheimer Association's Longest Day, as well as educators impacted by natural disasters

The organization has contributed internationally by raising funds to build schools in Vietnam and Peru and a bookmobile for a Cheyenne Arapaho tribe

This Senate resolution formally recognizes and honors South Carolina Alpha Delta Kappa for its dedication to supporting education in the state
