Elections for Lexington County School Districts 1, 2, and 4 board of trustees will change from nonpartisan to partisan elections beginning in 2028

Candidates must be nominated and elected through primary and general elections under South Carolina's Title 7 election procedures, with trustees serving four-year terms

Current board members elected on a nonpartisan basis whose terms extend beyond 2028 may continue serving but must file an affidavit declaring their political party affiliation with the Lexington County Board of Voter Registration and Elections

Existing trustees elected nonpartisan are permitted to run as partisan candidates in future elections
