Applicants for multistate social work licenses must submit fingerprints to the Board of Social Work Examiners for state and federal criminal background checks conducted by the Division of Criminal Investigation and FBI

Applicants must sign a release of information and pay all fees for fingerprinting and background checks

The board cannot issue a multistate license until receiving the applicant's criminal history record information

Criminal history information obtained through this process must remain confidential and cannot be shared with anyone outside board employees

Amends existing law to add multistate licenses to the types of social work licenses the board may issue under the social work licensure compact (§ 36-26A-1)
