Licensed health care providers (physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives) treating pregnant women or patients with serious medical conditions may claim exemption within 10 days of receiving a summons if no equally qualified replacement is available and their absence could harm patients

Public safety workers (law enforcement officers, firefighters, hazardous/disaster response team members, EMS personnel) may claim exemption within 10 days if no qualified replacement is available and their absence poses a risk to public health and safety

Sole caregivers for household members with permanent disabilities may claim exemption if jury service would create substantial risk of injury to the disabled person's health, unless the caregiver is regularly employed outside the home

All exemption requests require written documentation submitted to the clerk of court within 10 days of receiving a jury summons

Clerks of court must notify jurors of their specific required appearance date at least 14 days in advance, in addition to existing notice requirements
