Students receiving alternative instruction (homeschooled) who reside in a school district must now take the same state-designated academic achievement assessments as enrolled students in grades 3-8 and grade 11

Alternative instruction notification must be filed annually by September 1st of each school year, in addition to within 30 days of starting homeschooling, changing school districts, or other status changes

Partial enrollment is defined as attending courses through a school district for at least 50% of school term hours averaged over the year, and these students must also take district assessments

The South Dakota Board of Education Standards is now required (changed from "may") to promulgate rules for assessment administration and timelines

Repeals § 13-3-84, which previously exempted partially enrolled students below 50% enrollment from taking achievement tests
