Manufacturers must provide diagnostic codes, documentation, parts, software, specialty tools, and updates on fair and reasonable terms to independent repair providers and equipment owners for agricultural equipment with digital electronics (tractors, combines, harvesters, balers, irrigation systems, etc.)

Manufacturers must provide tools and documentation to disable and reset electronic locks, immobilizers, or security functions when necessary for ordinary repairs

Failure to provide required repair resources constitutes a deceptive trade practice under § 37-24-6; manufacturers are protected from liability for damages caused by independent repairs performed in compliance with the Act

Independent repair providers and owners are prohibited from overriding safety features, emission controls, or power levels, and cannot make modifications that violate federal, state, or local laws; violations constitute a Class 2 misdemeanor

Applies to equipment manufactured and sold on or after January 1, 2014; effective October 1, 2026
