South Dakota Board of Education Standards must recommend age-appropriate, research-based resources for prenatal human growth and development instruction for use in health or science curricula

Required instructional materials include high-definition ultrasound videos showing brain, heart, and major organs at various prenatal stages, plus video or computer animation depicting development from fertilization through birth (minimum 3 minutes in length)

Prohibits use of any materials produced or provided by entities that perform abortions, promote abortion, contract with abortion providers, are affiliated with abortion providers, or regularly make referrals to abortion providers

School districts are mandated to use the board-recommended resources in their curricula
