Celebrates the 75th anniversary of the South Dakota Legislative Research Council, established in 1951 by the 32nd South Dakota Legislature

Dr. William O. Farber, a University of South Dakota government professor, designed the Council's structure comprising all members of the South Dakota Legislature with authority to hire dedicated staff

The agency grew from one staff member to 32 full-time employees, plus committee secretaries, front desk clerks, sergeants-at-arms, and session-only personnel

The Council provides nonpartisan services including legislative operations, information technology, bill drafting and research, and fiscal analysis

Commends past and present staff for their service supporting hundreds of committees, drafting thousands of bills, and modernizing legislative operations
