Amends the definition of "controlled weapon" in South Dakota law to explicitly exclude firearm silencers, limiting controlled weapons to machine guns and short shotguns only

Removes firearm silencers from the Class 6 felony prohibition on possessing controlled weapons under § 22-14-6

Retains the existing definition of "firearm silencer" as any instrument or attachment intended to silence or muffle the noise of firing a gun, revolver, pistol, or other firearm

Federal registration requirements for silencers under the National Firearms Act remain in effect separate from this state law change
