County auditors may send confirmation letters (in addition to postcards) to voters whose acknowledgement notices or address verification requests are returned as undeliverable

Voters must sign and return the confirmation letter or postcard within 30 days of the postmark date, or their registration becomes inactive

Voters with incorrect information must submit corrections by the deadline (30 days or primary election registration deadline, depending on the mailing type) to avoid inactive status

Returning the letter/card with a new address in another South Dakota county or another state serves as cancellation authorization
