Signature requirements for nominating petitions shift from being based on votes cast for Governor to percentages of registered voters as recorded on the second Tuesday of December in the year prior to the election

New political party formation requires signatures from 1% of registered voters or 3,500 voters (whichever is less), with signatures valid only if obtained within one year of filing

Partisan candidates for federal or statewide office need signatures from 1% of registered voters affiliated with their party (or 2,250 voters, whichever is less); legislative and county candidates need 1% of affiliated party voters in their area (or 50 voters, whichever is less)

Independent candidates for federal or statewide office need signatures from 0.5% of registered voters (or 3,500 voters, whichever is less); legislative and county candidates need 0.5% of registered voters in their area (or 150 voters, whichever is less)

Effective January 1, 2027, with extensive updates to election-related definitions including "candidate," "ballot question committee," "petition circulator," and "independent"
