Legislative Description

As enacted, specifies that a garagekeeper or towing firm that does not verify ownership of a motor vehicle within three business days after taking possession of such motor vehicle pursuant to law or that does not notify by mail the owner of such motor vehicle within six days after taking possession would not be entitled to receive more than six days of storage-related expenses; provides for civil liability in certain circumstances for a garagekeeper or towing firm that fails to release a motor vehicle to a vehicle owner, secured creditor, lessor or lienholder. - Amends TCA Title 55, Chapter 16, Part 1.
