Students may possess and self-administer prescribed rescue seizure medication on school property and at school-related events if the medication is properly labeled and used according to physician instructions

Parents must provide written authorization and a signed healthcare provider statement detailing the student's name, medication name and purpose, dosage, route of administration, frequency, and circumstances for use

Schools and their employees are shielded from liability for injuries resulting from student possession or self-administration of rescue seizure medication, and parents must sign an indemnification agreement

Authorization remains valid for the entire school year unless rescinded; LEAs may suspend or revoke privileges if students misuse the medication or share it with others
