County legislative bodies may remove any member of an appointed board or commission by a two-thirds (2/3) vote, provided the removal is recommended by the appointing authority

Board or commission members subject to removal must receive at least 5 business days' notice of the meeting where the removal vote will occur

Does not apply to counties that already had charter provisions or resolutions for removing board/commission members prior to the act's effective date

Does not apply to persons appointed by a county legislative body to fill a vacancy in the General Assembly

Passed March 20, 2025 and signed by Governor Bill Lee on April 3, 2025, taking effect immediately
