Foreign persons required to file agricultural land ownership reports with the U.S. Department of Agriculture under federal law must also file a copy with the Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture within the same federal deadline

"Foreign person" includes non-U.S. citizens, entities organized under foreign laws, U.S. entities with significant foreign ownership or control, and foreign governments

Failure to file with the commissioner may result in a civil penalty up to 25% of the fair market value of the agricultural land interest, collectible through circuit court action by the attorney general

The Commissioner of Agriculture is authorized to promulgate rules to implement the act, with requirements applying to federal reports made on or after July 1, 2025

The law expires automatically if the federal Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act is repealed
