Persons convicted of a Class A misdemeanor in general sessions court must complete a cognitive behavioral training course unless the court deems it inappropriate; if incarcerated, the course must be completed after release

Offenders must pay the course cost (capped at $100), and counties are not required to cover costs even for indigent defendants

Willful failure to complete the course or provide proof of completion within the court-specified timeframe constitutes contempt of court, punishable by up to 10 days confinement

Approved courses must be available online, offered in multiple languages, include human interaction (grading, feedback, guidance), and providers must have documented effectiveness with government entities

Counties or municipalities may offer in-person programs but must also provide a compliant online option; effective July 1, 2025, for offenses committed on or after that date
