Healthcare providers participating in TennCare or CoverKids programs are prohibited from refusing to treat enrollees solely because the patient declined a vaccine or immunization for an infectious or communicable disease

Providers who violate this requirement will have their TennCare reimbursement withheld until the Bureau of TennCare finds them in compliance

Reimbursement penalties apply only to individual violating providers, not to their entire provider group or medical organization

Oncology specialists and organ transplant specialists are exempt from these requirements

Effective July 1, 2025; the TennCare director must adopt implementing rules and may seek federal waivers as necessary
