Health insurance entities must establish and maintain five application programming interfaces (APIs) to facilitate patient and provider access to health information: patient access, provider directory, payer-to-payer exchange, provider access, and prior authorization APIs

APIs must comply with federal standards specified in 42 CFR § 422.119-422.122, aligning Tennessee requirements with CMS regulations for Medicare Advantage plans

Health insurers must implement each required API by the earliest date CMS requires any of its regulated plan types to establish the same API

Amends Tennessee Code Annotated Sections 63-2-104 and 56-7-128, deleting certain existing subsections related to health records

Effective July 1, 2025
