Political subdivisions may adopt a supplemental bridge benefit after July 1, 2025, for employees in positions covered by mandatory retirement provisions who retire between ages 55 and 62

Members retiring between ages 55 and 60 receive the supplemental bridge benefit for up to 7 years; those retiring between 60 and 62 receive it until age 67

The supplemental bridge benefit includes cost-of-living adjustments and ceases upon the member's death or at the end of the payment period, whichever occurs first

Political subdivisions that previously adopted a supplemental bridge benefit before July 1, 2025, may switch to the new benefit structure, but the change is irrevocable

The act took effect upon becoming law, with the Governor's approval on May 5, 2025
