Local governments cannot prohibit handgun carry permit holders from carrying on public property unless metal detectors and trained security personnel are stationed at every public entrance to inspect all entrants and their belongings

Private entities, businesses, and government agencies retain the right to post signage warning that firearm possessors may be denied entry or asked to leave the premises

Exemptions from the security screening requirement include mental health facilities, childcare facilities, properties where firearms are already prohibited by law, law enforcement buildings, libraries, and Head Start program facilities
