Parent-teachers must notify the local director of schools annually of intent to home school and report children's names, number, ages, and grade levels for reporting purposes only

Parent-teachers must provide a normed curriculum selected and approved by themselves, but state agencies may request documentation to confirm this requirement is met

State and local governments are prohibited from requiring home school students to take any assessments, including TCAP standardized tests

State and local governments cannot require submission of curricula, textbooks, or instructional materials information beyond confirming a normed curriculum exists

State may still regulate home schools if families voluntarily participate in state programs or receive state funds with additional requirements; effective July 1, 2025
