TN HB1199

Requires each local education agency (LEA) board operating at least one high school to adopt a policy allowing a high school student to serve as an advisory, nonvoting representative during public board meetings

Exempts boards that established a student advisory group before July 1, 2025, consisting of at least one student from each high school that meets regularly to advise the board

Allows boards to set additional eligibility requirements for students seeking to serve as advisory representatives

Student representatives are not eligible for compensation or reimbursement for their board service

Policy adoption provisions took effect upon the law's passage; all other provisions take effect July 1, 2025
