Private citizens and organizations in Tennessee would not be required to recognize same-sex marriages, declaring they are not bound by the Fourteenth Amendment or the Supreme Court's Obergefell v. Hodges (2015) decision

The Board of Professional Responsibility would be prohibited from disciplining or sanctioning any person who declines to celebrate or officiate marriages or commitment ceremonies that fall outside Tennessee's statutory definition of marriage

Effective date of July 1, 2026, applying to actions occurring on or after that date
