TN HB1694

Authorizes emergency medical services personnel to transport and provide emergency care to "canine first responders" (police, military, detection, or search-and-rescue dogs) injured in the line of duty, but only when no human requires medical attention or transport.

Requires the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and Tennessee EMS Board to establish training programs for EMS personnel and requirements for licensed veterinarians to serve as "emergency veterinary medicine service directors."

EMS personnel must complete approved training and operate under the oversight and authorization of an emergency veterinary medicine service director to provide K-9 emergency care.

Grants EMS personnel immunity from criminal and civil liability for good-faith emergency care to injured canine first responders, as well as immunity for refusing to provide care or transport.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
