TN HB1788

Prohibits "prohibited foreign-party-controlled businesses" and "prohibited foreign parties" from acquiring any interest in non-agricultural land in Tennessee through purchase, grant, inheritance, or other means

Requires violators to divest their non-agricultural land holdings within 2 years of being found in violation, with the attorney general authorized to take legal action if they fail to do so

Mandates registration with the secretary of state within 60 days for prohibited foreign parties holding non-agricultural land on or after January 1, 2025, including disclosure of ownership details, business purpose, and all U.S. land holdings exceeding 250 acres

Establishes penalties including a Class A misdemeanor (up to $1,500 fine and/or 11 months 29 days confinement) for violations and civil penalties up to $2,000 for failing to register

Takes effect July 1, 2026
