Conventional or Class D school buses used exclusively to transport students to after-school programs may operate until 20 years from in-service date or 300,000 miles, whichever occurs later

Buses reaching the 20-year or 300,000-mile threshold may continue operating through the remainder of that school year but must be discontinued or replaced at year's end

Owners must notify the Department of Safety in writing via certified mail when a bus reaches 20 years of service or 300,000 miles

Removes the existing 18-year maximum service limit for certain school buses by deleting that restriction from current law

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
