Personally identifying information of elected state and local public officials held by government entities becomes confidential and closed to public inspection

Confidential information must be redacted from documents, but the presence of such information cannot be used to deny access to otherwise public records

Law enforcement, courts, and government agencies retain access to this information for official functions; personnel records that are currently public remain open

Elected officials may expressly authorize release of their own protected information

Effective date: July 1, 2026
