Governor-appointed members of state university boards must be confirmed by joint resolution of both the Senate and House of Representatives before beginning their term of office.

Board member terms will begin on February 1 and expire six years thereafter, changing the standard term structure.

Current board members serving at the effective date will have their terms extended to January 31 immediately following their original expiration date to align with the new schedule.

Tennessee State University board appointments are specifically included under the same confirmation and term requirements.

The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
