Members receiving temporary disability benefits under workers' compensation may establish retirement credit during or after their disability period, with contributions based on salary immediately prior to disability plus applicable interest

State police officers who apply on or after July 1, 2026 can establish retirement credit for disability periods at no cost to the officer

Political subdivisions may adopt these provisions by resolution, with the option to provide no-cost retirement credit for their police officers starting July 1, 2026

Creditable service for temporary disability is capped at one year per occurrence of disability
