County legislative bodies in charter counties cannot reduce sheriff's office budgets below the previous fiscal year's level for personnel salaries, benefits, or operational expenditures without the sheriff's written approval

Sheriffs gain authority to approve or disapprove any budget amendment that would reduce personnel, operational, or capital expenditures below the level the sheriff proposed

County legislative bodies may only amend a sheriff's budget with the sheriff's written consent or by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the entire legislative body if the sheriff disapproves

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
