Health insurers must allow licensed medical laboratories to participate as in-network providers on the same terms and conditions offered to other medical laboratories

Insurers may establish higher rates in nonurban areas or when necessary to meet network adequacy standards or patient care needs

Patients may select any licensed medical laboratory of their choice that participates as an in-network provider under the plan

Non-network medical laboratories eligible to participate must be reimbursed at no less than the federal CMS clinical laboratory fee schedule rate for Tennessee

Non-network labs may be required to meet the same performance metrics as in-network labs to receive the CMS fee schedule reimbursement rate
