Charter schools authorized by the state commission may transfer to local board of education oversight within 30 calendar days if both parties mutually agree in writing, except for schools renewed on appeal by the commission.

Charter agreements renewed by a local board of education must be for a term of 10 academic years.

Charter agreements renewed by the state commission must be for a term of 5 to 10 academic years, as determined by commission resolution.

Initial charter agreements are distinguished from renewed charter agreements in terminology throughout the code.

Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
