Extends the statute of limitations for wrongful death civil actions from 2 years to 3 years when criminal charges are brought against someone alleged to have caused the death and criminal prosecution is commenced within 2 years

The extended 3-year limitation applies when prosecution is initiated by a law enforcement officer, district attorney general, or grand jury

Separates wrongful death actions from other personal injury actions, which retain the standard 1-year statute of limitations (libel, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, federal civil rights claims)

Designated as "Quinton's Law"

Takes effect July 1, 2026, applying only to causes of action accruing on or after that date
