Dogwood Arts Festival launched in 1961 and celebrated 50 years in 2010; other major events include the House and Garden Show (established 1978), Chalk Walk, and Rhythm N' Blooms

Bazillion Blooms campaign has helped plant more than 18,500 dogwood trees since 2009
