Tennessee General Assembly honors the memory of Eugene M. Pike, Jr., of Chattanooga, a funeral home executive who served as president of Chattanooga Funeral Home for 48 years beginning in 1977

Pike expanded operations to include four chapels, a flower shop, care center, and crematory, and at one point oversaw 65 funeral homes throughout the Eastern United States

Assisted with the funeral service of Elvis Presley in 1977 at Ellis Auditorium in Memphis and conducted services for three Chattanooga mayors

Received the Hometown Patriot Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution for decades of service to veterans, including helping bring the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to Chattanooga

Held leadership roles in numerous civic organizations including the Chattanooga Civitan Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Walter Boehm Birth Defect Center, and served as chairman of John A. Gupton Mortuary School since 1979
