Tennessee General Assembly honors the memory of Jimmy Jones McClain (born August 20, 1931), who grew up during the Great Depression as one of eight children and assumed family responsibilities at age 11 after his father's death in a railroad accident

McClain served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War after attending Columbia Military Academy on a football scholarship, and was recognized as best all-around athlete at Haylong High School

Retired after a career with Hooker Chemical Company, Stauffer Chemical, and Zeneca, and was the oldest official member of Mount Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church

Survived by wife Marie Brady McClain, two daughters, two grandchildren, one great-grandson, and one sister
