Volunteered extensively with First Presbyterian Church soup kitchen, Meals on Wheels, and Memphis Inter-Faith Association, collecting and transporting donated baked goods and delivering meals

Competed in tennis with her husband Dabney Wellford (married 63 years) in USTA leagues and National Senior Olympics, earning a silver medal in women's doubles in the 80-85 age category

Survived by three children, five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and nine nieces and nephews
