Tennessee House Resolution 165 formally recognizes and commends the Tony Award-winning musical Suffs, written by Shaina Taub, which depicts the American women's suffrage movement and events leading to the Nineteenth Amendment's ratification.

The musical will be hosted at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Jackson Hall in Nashville from March 3-8, 2026.

Suffs premiered off-Broadway in 2022 and opened on Broadway in 2024, featuring historical figures including Alice Paul, Carrie Chapman Catt, Ida B. Wells, Lucy Burns, and Mary Church Terrell.

The resolution highlights Tennessee's pivotal role in women's suffrage history, as the Tennessee General Assembly cast the deciding vote in 1920 that ratified the Nineteenth Amendment nationwide.
