Establishes special qualifying procedures for vacancies in judge, district attorney general, or public defender positions that occur after the standard filing deadline

Allows statewide political parties to select nominees for these late-occurring judicial vacancies using any method authorized under party rules

Requires the chair of the nominating body to certify nominees to the coordinator of elections by the deadline established in § 17-4-308(j)

Independent candidates for these positions must qualify by filing nominating petitions under § 2-5-104

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law; passed February 9, 2026 and approved February 23, 2026
