Healthcare providers are prohibited from inquiring about patients' ownership, possession, or access to firearms, ammunition, or firearm accessories, and cannot require disclosure of such information as a condition of treatment

Providers cannot deny treatment or discriminate against patients based on firearm ownership, and cannot share firearm-related information with insurers

Firearm information may only be entered into patient records if relevant to medical care, safety of the patient, or safety of others

Psychiatrists and psychologists are explicitly exempted from these restrictions

Violations constitute unethical conduct, subject to disciplinary action by licensing authorities and a $1,000 fine per violation; effective July 1, 2025
