Grants the Tennessee Corrections Institute authority to establish certification requirements for corrections officers and to inspect and certify local correctional training academies at jails, lock-ups, and workhouses

Allows local correctional facilities to avoid decertification by submitting a corrective action plan within 90 days of inspection, with plans limited to 12 months for easily resolvable issues or up to 5 years with unanimous board approval

Prohibits corrective action plans for deficiencies that directly impact facility safety, security, or public welfare

Authorizes the board to establish uniform training standards for corrections recruits and officers, including requirements for initial certification, continued certification, and revocation

Adds directors and full-time employees of the Tennessee Corrections Institute to those authorized to carry firearms in the performance of their duties; effective July 1, 2026
