School districts may establish one or more investment pools for school district funds through written agreement, as an alternative to or in addition to the existing local government investment pool

Establishing school districts or their designated board of directors may exercise the same investment powers granted to the state treasurer and state funding board for managing these pools

Investment policies must be consistent with state investment guidelines under § 9-4-602 unless an alternative policy is approved by the state funding board

Written agreements and investment policies must be filed with the comptroller of the treasury, and all school district investment pools are subject to audit and review by the comptroller

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
