Public high schools must provide students in U.S. government and civics courses with 3 civic engagement field days, one for each branch of government

Legislative branch field day requires a visit to a city council, county commission, or the General Assembly

Judicial branch field day requires a courthouse visit to observe proceedings or meet with a judge or court official

Executive branch field day requires a visit to the office of a mayor, county executive, or the governor

Schools are not required to reschedule visits for absent students and may exclude students for disciplinary reasons; applies beginning 2026-2027 school year
