Wrongful death lawsuits must be filed within 2 years after the cause of action accrues under the standard statute of limitations

Extends the wrongful death filing deadline to 3 years when criminal charges are brought against someone alleged to have caused the death and a criminal prosecution was commenced within 2 years by law enforcement, a district attorney general, or a grand jury

Separates wrongful death claims from other personal injury actions, which retain a 1-year statute of limitations (including libel, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, and federal civil rights claims)

Officially designated as "Quinton's Law"

Takes effect July 1, 2026, applying only to causes of action accruing on or after that date
