Allows state employees receiving temporary disability benefits under workers' compensation to establish retirement credit during or after their disability period, subject to board of trustees approval

State police officers who apply on or after July 1, 2026 may establish retirement credit for disability periods at no cost to the officer

Political subdivisions may adopt this provision for their employees by passing a resolution accepting liability, with the option to provide no-cost retirement credit for their police officers

Contributions for retirement credit are calculated based on the member's salary immediately prior to disability, plus applicable interest

Limits creditable service to a maximum of one year per occurrence of temporary disability; effective July 1, 2026
