Charter schools authorized by the state commission may transfer to local board of education oversight within 30 calendar days if both parties mutually agree in writing, with the local board assuming all charter agreement rights and responsibilities

Initial charter agreements are now explicitly distinguished from renewed charter agreements in the statutory language

Charter renewals approved by local boards of education must be for 10 academic years

Charter renewals approved by the state commission must be for 5-10 academic years, as determined by commission resolution

The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law
