Served as president of the Tennessee Home Builders Association in 2015 and was inducted into the Tennessee Home Builders Hall of Fame in 2021

Served on multiple House committees including Commerce, State and Local Government, Transportation, and Local Government committees

Expresses sympathy and condolences to his surviving family including daughter Meredith Burkhart, fiancée Cindy Greene, and siblings
